Market-opening in Japan for the export of Hass avocado

The Brazilian Government welcomed the announcement of the Japanese Government on the authorization for Brazil to export Hass avocado to that country. The authorization to export the product opens up new opportunities for the Brazilian agroindustry and also diversifies the offer of fruits to the Japanese market, one of the most demanding in the world. Japan was the fourth destination of Brazilian agricultural products in 2023, with exports reaching 4,1 billion dollars. In 2024, the sales of agricultural products reached 1,71 billion dollars in the first seven months. In the fruits sector, the Asian country imported US$ 3,29 million from Brazil in 2024. With this new authorization, the Brazilian agribusiness obtained its 104 market-opening this year, getting 182 openings in 58 destinations since 2023. These results arise from the joint work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAL).
