Latin America – Asia Pacific Relations Observatory
Objective
The Latin America – Asia Pacific Relations Observatory aims at deepening the knowledge related to the economic relations between both regions, and counting on a permanent mechanism which provides member countries of the ALADI with the necessary information for the adoption of their policies and strategies on the matter.
The Observatory was created on 14 July 2011, by Resolution 393 of the Committee of Representatives of the ALADI, and it began to work on July 2012. The General Secretariat of the ALADI and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) are in charge of the Observatory.
Our tasks
In order to achieve the objective pursued, the Observatory carries out the following tasks:
- Monitoring of the progress of the economic relations between Latin America and Asia Pacific, and the promotion of exchange of ideas related to their impact on the countries of the region.
- Systematization and dissemination of available information regarding the Latin America – Asia Pacific economic relations.
- Promotion of studies, analysis documents, and courses related to the economic relations between both regions, and their dissemination.
- Cooperation with public and private institutions in order to strengthen links among government authorities, academicians, students and entrepreneurs from both regions.
