EXPOMIN is recognised as one of the world's most important mining exhibitions and is a key industry event for mining in Latin America. For many years it has been the first step for Australian companies to learn about and enter the Latin American market with many exhibitors going on to establish their presence in Chile after exhibiting.

From all appearances, EXPOMIN 2014 will be bigger than ever and the organisers expect 80,000 visitors and 1,400 exhibitors from over 30 countries.

This creates a strong opportunity to meet mining executives, specialised distributors and potential commercial partners and customers from Chile and the Latin American region.

Australian Mining, Equipment, Technology Suppliers (METS) enjoy a world-leading reputation in Chile and there are over 60 already represented in the Chilean market via a subsidiary office.

At every EXPOMIN, the key players within the Chilean mining industry are eager to learn about the latest Australian technology and services to be showcased at theAustralia Unlimited Pavilion which Austrade manages.

The organisers of EXPOMIN offer a one-on-one business meeting program with procurement executives of mining companies.

Their program also includes the "2nd Underground Mining International Workshop", a technical event to analyse the development of new technologies and an opportunity for suppliers to present their products in this area.

The Austrade business program provides additional benefits for exhibitors attending as part of the Australia UnlimitedPavilion.

Some highlights of this program are:

- An exclusive series of briefings with senior executives from major mining companies including representatives from Antofagasta Minerals, BHP Billiton and Codelco.

- A visit to Chile's mining capital Antofagasta, where 50% of Chile's mining production derives.
