Latin American and Caribbean Overseas Foreign Direct Investment (OFDI) in China
The research, for the first time, examines the flow of overseas foreign direct investment (OFDI) of Latin American and Caribbean countries in China. Given the statistical difficulties, the research focuses on the experiences carried out by, in particular, translatinas businesses in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Central America, and the Caribbean. Even though each case is different, at the general level the research highlights that LAC countries possess the potential to increase the OFDI in China. In addition, despite the increased trade barrier and the trade war between the United States and China, the LAC countries did not abandon their investment in China but opted for the “China+1” strategy; that is, to deepen the relationship with China and other Asian countries at the same time.
The research named Latin American and Caribbean Overseas Foreign Direct Investment in China in the Twenty First Century was published by the Red Academy of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) on China and edited by Enrique Dussel Peters.
