Peruvian Vice Foreign Minister Visited the Philippines and Japan

The Vice Foreign Minister of Peru, Peter Camino, visited the Philippines and Japan to participate in "activities to strengthen bilateral relations." On June 19th in the Philippines, the vice minister attended the "First Meeting of Bilateral Consultation Mechanism between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru and the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines," addressing bilateral trade and issues related to maritime cooperation, agriculture, environment, and disaster risk reduction and management.

On June 21 in Japan, the vice minister discussed "the main issues on the bilateral agenda, including trade, investment, and cooperation for development" in the "Third Meeting of the Peru-Japan Political Dialogue Mechanism." Additionally, he held discussions to agree on a 'Roadmap' to deepen, strengthen, and plan for the future of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The trade agreement between Peru and Japan entered into force in 2012. Peru has not signed an agreement with the Philippines; nevertheless, the two countries are members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC), and Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC).
